Basketball Game - Basket ballSports Out of all the sports in the world, basketball is one of the most popular. It consists of two teams of five players each who try and score points by throwing a basketball through the basketball hoop. The opposing team attempts to stop this from happening within the alloted basketball rules.The hoop is positioned 10 feet from the ground on both ends of the basketball court. The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner. Two points are awarded to normal shots inside an inscribed half circle. Three points are awarded for any shot made outside this line. Players must bounce or dribble the basketball or pass it between teammates. Contact is only permitted by touching the ball and not the players along with other physical contact rules. A team of referees are always present to help control the flow of the game. There are many techniques, tricks, and skills including dribbling, shooting, passing, and of course slam dunks, that can be aquired and displayed in the game of basketball. This game has made its way to many other countries and is played world wide both inside and outside with all different kind, sizes, and colors of basketballs. Two of maybe the most well know organizations of basketball teams are the NBA and the WNBA. |
